Art offers sanctuary to everyone willing to open their hearts as well as their eyes.

Expressive Arts
Creative arts therapy is based on the idea that the creative act can be healing. Therapists agree that creative art can help express hidden emotions, and reduces stress, fear, and anxiety.
The facilitation of the expressive arts within psychotherapy offers other ways to get in touch with inner wisdom, insight, long forgotten strengths, and newfound resilience.
Expressive arts is not just drawing pictures. For some it is creating music or singing. For others it might be painting and writing. Other folks may be drawn to drama or theatre or sewing. Each person has their own natural access point within the arts that speaks to them and therapy is tailored to fit each individual person and their interests.
I work with many artists but also many folks that say they are not artistic at all. It is always up to the client if they want to incorporate the expressive arts into the healing process. My main training is in traditional talk therapy. I have always been drawn to the arts and nature and have interwoven these interests within my work at schools, hospitals, groups, and private practice. This past summer I studied the expressive arts in a summer insititute at Salve Regina University. This training has given my practice new scope and depth that I am eager to share with others. Let’s get creative!
